Dear Valued Harmony House Supporter,
With the rapidly evolving COVID-19 Pandemic, our organization wants you to know that we are taking appropriate measures based on recommendations from Ottawa Public Health, the Ministry as well as our own policies to ensure the health and safety of our residents, staff, and volunteers.
As a 2nd-stage shelter, we are fortunate that each resident has her own unit to live in thus mitigating social interactions. We have made specific arrangements with front line staff, volunteers and community partners on how the shelter will operate in the coming weeks and will continue to monitor and adjust our strategies on a daily basis and as needed.
Our mandate is to ensure the health and safety of our residents by following the recommended guidelines of social distancing, increasing cleaning and hygiene protocols and limiting non-essential meetings and interactions while still supporting the residents as needed. We have made appropriate adjustments to our bi-weekly foodbanks, childcare services, and non-essential meetings.
While we are fortunate to have received an abundance of household supplies and toiletries over the winter months, we are still in need of and are accepting online donations and gift cards as the financial impact of this virus will likely worsen before it improves.
